Undergraduate (F1)

Graduate (F1)

With 30+ online and campus-based programs to choose from, Northern's graduate education can help you get to the next level in your professional career. You have accomplished so much already, but now it's time to really immerse yourself in your academic passion. 

Transfer (F1)

NMU is a transfer-friendly institution and courses transfer from accredited colleges and universities all over the world. Anyone who has attempted any college coursework after high school graduation a transfer student for admission purposes. 

    Exchange Students (J-1)

    All exchange semesters begin with an official nomination from an international officer at your home university. Once your nomination has been accepted by NMU and you have received permission from your home university, you are ready to apply.

    All documents must be submitted by your home university's international office. NMU will not accept documents directly from a student.

    While part of what makes NMU unique is our incredible location, we are so much more than a pretty place. From our classrooms that span beyond the traditional lecture hall, to the numerous activities to do both on- and off-campus, we offer something for everyone.

    International Application Deadlines

    NMU accepts applications all year round whenever they are sent. However, we recommend the following deadlines. Please be aware that it can take a long time for some parts of the application to be completed. Make sure that you have time to send all of your application documents, receive your immigration documents (I-20) in the mail, apply for your visa, and prepare your travel arrangements.
