CO 111 Cannabis Fundamentals 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Cannabis Fundamentals provides students with an overview of the science of growing the cannabis plant, manufacturing and processing of products from cannabis, and dispensing cannabis for medical and recreational use. Topics covered in this course include cannabis terminology, a review of the industry history, cultural norms and common interactions within the human body. Additionally, students learn horticultural principles of growing and harvesting cannabis, equipment, oil extraction techniques, modes of dispensing cannabis, and regulations.

CO 121 Cannabis: Uses and Effects 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This course will examine ways that cannabis, including specific cannabinoid compounds and synthetic analogs of these compounds, can affect (mental) well-being when applied or ingested. It will include introductory material on approaches to the study of cannabis’ actions in the body and review the connection of cannabinoid compounds application and ingestion with mental well-being. An emphasis will be placed on teaching students how to find and summarize published articles in this area of study.

CO 131 Dispensary Operations 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This course provides an overview of dispensary operations with the goal of applying operational
principles in a cannabis retail setting. This course provides details for protecting a dispensary’s
products, customers, and employees with emergency procedures. It also explores best practices in
dispensary design layout, admission processes and communication, lighting, and building climate,
product placement, and signage. This course reviews ways of preventing customer and employee
theft.

CO 211 Federal Dispensary Regulations 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This course will provide students with an overview of federal dispensary regulations to prepare
them to work in a dispensary or other cannabis-related environment. This course will deliver
practical, applied content that will help students interact with customers in a legal and ethical
manner. To provide a larger context to working in a dispensary environment, the course will
introduce students to federal regulations and legal processes that impact dispensary business
operations.

CO 212 State Dispensary Regulations 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This course will provide students an overview of state dispensary regulations to prepare them to
work in a dispensary or other cannabis-related environment. This course will deliver practical,
applied content that will help students interact with customers in a legal and ethical manner. To
provide a larger context to working in a dispensary environment, the course will introduce
students to state regulations and legal issues and processes that impact dispensary business
operations.
