NCLL Ore Dock Presentation Planned

Thursday 17, 2013

MARQUETTE, Mich.— The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host a presentation on the potential transformation of Marquette’s Lower Harbor ore dock from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. Gisele Duehring, a professional engineer and organizer of the community movement will share her vision of turning the historical landmark into a nonprofit botanical and ecological center. Duehring will speak on transforming the dock into a center encompassing an atrium, classrooms and a reception hall that would be open to the entire community.

She will also discuss plans for fund raising, searching out and applying for grants, seeking permits and finding people to serve on a board. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

There is no cost to NCLL members, but there is a $5 entry fee for non-members. Register by Thursday, Jan. 24, by calling 227-2979 or contact Jill Martin at 343-6609 for more information.
