Constitution Day Forum Tackles Controversial Topics

            MARQUETTE, Mich. — Three heavily debated topics surrounding the United States Constitution will be addressed in a forum, “Controversial Constitutional Issues: The Defense of Marriage Act, Citizens United and Voting Rights Act,” at Northern Michigan University. The event is scheduled at noon Tuesday, Sept. 17, in 103 Jamrich Hall. It is free and open to the public.

            NMU political science professors Steven Nelson, Ruth Watry and Carter Wilson will serve as panelists and respond to audience questions related to the issues.

            Constitution Day is an annual federal observance recognizing the date the U.S. Constitution was ratified: Sept. 17, 1787. The NMU forum is sponsored by the political science department. For questions, call 227-2019.
