Patagonia Designer to Visit NMU

Geoffrey Holstad, senior graphic designer at Patagonia Clothing, will visit Northern Michigan University's School of Art and Design April 25-26 to conduct a workshop and give a presentation. Holstad is a plein air graphic designer and citizen meteorologist based in Ojai, Calif. In addition to his role at Patagonia, he serves on the Environmental Media Grants Council and is the co-founder and director of Cabin-Time, a roaming creative residency to remote places.  

Holstad’s workshop, titled “Cutting Through the Static: Thoughtful Messaging Through Design and Creative Action,” will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in 290 Art and Design. Community members will join Holstad to discuss and share ideas surrounding sustainability in Marquette County. The workshop is free to attend and is limited to 20 people. A public artist talk will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in 165 Art and Design. The event is free and open to the public.
