Professional/Personal Biography:

I graduated from NMU in 2010 with a degree in Public Relations, and was involved in a number of organizations and activities on campus, such as PRSSA and Special Events Committee. Shortly after graduation, I connected with a fellow Wildcat and received an internship in Madison, WI! It was a fantastic experience that would not have been possible without the great network of NMU alum! Before being an Admissions Counselor, I worked for the Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, so I know a lot about what Marquette County has to offer.  I love talking about NMU, Marquette, and life in the U.P, so email or call anytime with questions!

Most Memorable College Experience:

My most memorable college experience was being part of the Short Track Speedskating Olympic Trials and Short Track Speedskating World Cup! The U.S. Olympic Education Center was located right on campus, and NMU hosted these two short track speedskating events in the fall of 2009. The Olympic Trials and World Cup brought Olympic hopefuls to the Berry Events Center from all over the country, and the world! As a media intern for the USOEC, I worked right next to the ice with the announcer and was an arm’s length away from all the action. It was great hands-on experience to receive as a student, and an unforgettable series of events to be a part of and watch!

Favorite Marquette Activity:

Marquette has so much to offer, it’s hard to just pick one activity! But I love being outdoors! In the summer & fall, I like relaxing on the beach, kayaking, and exploring the endless hiking trails. In the winter, I love to snowshoe and cross country ski not only on the trails in Marquette, but on the many trails in Ishpeming, Negaunee and all of Marquette County.

Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone entering college:

My best advice to those entering college: Get involved! Work hard in and out of class, but take advantage of being a student on an active campus! Whether it’s through your residence hall, joining a club, or your academic organization, NMU has something for everyone.   You make friends and memories that last a lifetime, and it really enhances your life outside the classroom. College is what you make it, and these years could be some of the best years of your life!
