Northern Michigan University is located in Marquette, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. It is the largest city in the UP, with a residential population of around 20,000.

Northern Michigan University's annual security report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings owned or controlled by Northern Michigan University, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible for the campus.

The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. We offer over 177 different academic programs including business, education, art and design, pre-med, criminal justice and nursing just to name a few. Plus new unique programs in Medicinal Plant Chemistry and Forensics Anthropology.

In order to be admitted into Northern students must possess a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.25/4.0. Our admissions process is test blind. For students not meeting this requirement, other options may be available.

Recognizing that for many students NMU is quite a distance to travel, we have numerous activities for students to get involved in upon arriving to campus including our academic programs, our student-based clubs and organizations as well as the various campus and community-based events that occur on campus year-round. There is plenty to take part in at Northern!

Keep your quarters! Washers and driers are available in each residence hall and it is included in your tuition. Of course, students will still have to buy detergent and softener.
