Our application will reopen for the Fall 2025 cohort in early September.
The Honors Program invites academically qualified, motivated students to apply. We request one letter of recommendation and a written personal statement. The letter of recommendation may be from a teacher, principal, coach, supervisor, or community member. (Transfer students who are currently enrolled at another university may submit a letter from a faculty member from that institution if they prefer.) All applications are evaluated holistically; there are no cutoff test scores or GPA requirements.
The letter of recommendation can be e-mailed to honors@nmu.edu or mailed to: Honors Program, Northern Michigan University, 1401 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855. If sending your letter of recommendation via email, we highly recommend the letter be in either a Microsoft Word document or PDF format. (Our system typically blocks our access to Google Docs.) In this highly competitive program, Northern Michigan University retains the right to exercise judgment as to the eligibility of the applicants.
